All Hallows eve is first found in history around the 1500's, but many people believe that it goes back even further to pagan times. It signified the end of the summer and was thought to be a time when magic and spirits were more prevelant than normal.
Whatever the case, Halloween is a huge part of our lives here in the United States and has become more than meets the eye.
Devils Night and Hell Night (as Halloween is sometimes called) can be a time filled with fear, death and destruction and also has been linked to an increase in crime, especially in cities like Detroit, Michigan which routinely see an enourmous up-tick in arson and other crimes during this time. It is also a time when our thoughts turn to the supernatural.... to ghosts.... to spirits.... to death and what comes after.
I personally am a believer in the after-life and have often wondered about ghosts and demons and how they influence our lives. I love watching television shows about the investigators who go into haunted houses and set up investigations into the supernatural.
This blog will be scouring the internet for various stories, events, and web sites devoted to the supernatural that can make the hair stand up on our necks and to help us understand the supernatural, not just on Halloween, but any time.
